Privacy policy
How StatusPages handles your information.
Last updated 13 October 2026
Who runs this site
StatusPages (status-pages.com) brings together the public status pages of
third-party providers. We are not affiliated with any provider listed.
The site is run by Tim Biddle, an individual, in his own time. He is the
controller of your personal data under UK data protection law. For anything
about your data, email support@status-pages.com.
The short version
- You can read every status page without giving us anything. We set no cookies and use no analytics.
- Like any website, our host keeps short-lived request logs, including your IP address.
- If you contact us or sign up for alerts, we keep what you give us so we can act on it.
- We do not sell your data.
What we collect and why
Request logs
- What
- Details of each request to the site, which can include your IP address, the page asked for and the time.
- Why
- To keep the site running, find faults and stop abuse.
- Lawful basis
- Legitimate interests (keeping the site running and secure).
- Kept for
- Up to 7 days, in Cloudflare Workers Logs.
Rate limiting
- What
- Your IP address, stored as a counter key when you send the contact form or sign up for alerts.
- Why
- To limit how many requests one address can send, so the forms cannot be flooded.
- Lawful basis
- Legitimate interests (preventing abuse).
- Kept for
- 1 hour, then deleted automatically.
Contact and listing requests
- What
- What you enter on the contact form: the type of request, the service, its category, its status page address, any certification source, your name, email address and role, and your message.
- Why
- To verify and handle your request (for example adding, changing or removing a listing) and to reply to you.
- Lawful basis
- Legitimate interests (handling the request you sent us).
- Kept for
- While we handle your request, and afterwards as a record of changes to our listings. We delete it if you ask us to. The verification link we email you expires after 24 hours.
When you send the form:
- Your request is stored in our database, and a copy is emailed to our support mailbox. We email you a link to confirm that you made the request. Replies come from support@status-pages.com.
- To prepare a listing change, we may open a pull request in our private code repository on GitHub. It can include your name and email address.
- For some requests, the service name, status page address and your message (which includes your role and certification source) may be sent to Google's Gemini API to help draft the change. Your name and email address are not sent. See Who processes data for us.
- If our email sending fails, the form offers to open your own email program instead, and you send the message yourself.
Alert subscriptions
- What
- The Slack or webhook address you give us, and the category, region and providers you choose. A webhook address can identify you or your organisation.
- Why
- To send you the incident alerts you asked for. We send a test message to the address when you sign up.
- Lawful basis
- Providing the service you asked for (performance of a contract).
- Kept for
- Until you unsubscribe with the link included in every alert.
Settings stored in your browser
No cookies are set. Two settings are kept in your browser's local storage:
theme: whether you chose the light or dark theme.
statuspages:mystack: the providers you picked on My Stack.
These are not cookies. They stay on your device and are never sent to us, with
one exception: your My Stack choices are also written into the page address
(as ?s=), so they appear in your browser history and in any link
you share, and reach us as part of that address when the page is loaded. They
only remember choices you made, so they do not need your consent. You can
clear them in your browser's settings.
Third parties your browser contacts
Nothing else. Provider icons are fetched by our server from DuckDuckGo's icon
service and served from our own domain, so your browser does not contact
DuckDuckGo. Status badges embedded on other websites also load from our
domain. We use no third-party fonts and no analytics.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the site (Workers, with its database and storage), keeps request logs for up to 7 days, sends our email, and runs Turnstile. Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Apple hosts our support mailbox (iCloud Mail), which receives copies of contact requests and your replies. Apple's privacy policy.
- GitHub, Inc. hosts our private code repository, where listing changes are prepared. GitHub's privacy statement.
Google provides the Gemini API that may help draft listing
changes. We send it only the service name, status page address and message
text from a request, never your name or email address. Depending on the
Gemini API terms that apply to our use, Google may also use that text to
improve its own products. Google's privacy policy.
These companies may process data in the United States. Cloudflare's transfers
rely on the UK safeguards it offers: the UK Extension to the EU-US Data
Privacy Framework and the ICO's International Data Transfer Addendum. Transfers
to the other providers rely on the safeguards described in their own policies.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to have it corrected or
erased, to restrict how we use it, and, where it applies, to receive it in a
portable format.
You have the right to object to any processing we base on
legitimate interests, including request logs, rate limiting and handling
contact requests. If you object, we will stop unless we have compelling
grounds to continue.
To use any of these rights, email support@status-pages.com. We will reply within one month.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office:
ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the
date at the top of the page.
