An active reachability check for every service we track. Where possible we ping the service's real API endpoint rather than its website, so a response tells us the API is up. This is a coarser signal than a provider's own status feed: a green result means the endpoint we pinged responded, not that the provider has declared everything healthy. Some endpoints block automated requests; when that happens we show them as "could not reach" rather than a confirmed outage.
